Choose between opening your digital card and downloading your contact, then test the QR code before adding it to a sign, screen or printed card.
Updated October 11, 2026Decide what should happen after the scan
A QR code is a way to open a destination. For a business card, the useful question is whether the person should explore your profile first or go straight to saving your contact. Meet Well offers both options in the share dialog.
QR opens digital card takes them to your public page, with your design, bio, links and Save contact button. QR downloads contact opens a vCard contact file, which their phone can import into its contacts app. They still confirm the save; scanning never writes silently to their address book.
Create and download your QR code
Save your contact details
Check your name, company, role, email and phone in My digital card. Save your card so a scan reaches your published information.
Open Share
Choose Share in your workspace. Under QR code destination, select QR opens digital card or QR downloads contact.
Download the code
Choose QR as PNG or QR as SVG to save the code for the destination you selected. Keep the light margin around the pattern when you place it in a design.
Test the finished version
Scan from a second phone, open the link and check the result. For a direct contact download, review the imported fields before saving. Test a printed proof as well as the image on your screen.
Put the code where a scan makes sense
A printed card, name badge, counter sign or presentation slide gives someone a convenient way to capture your details. Leave room around the QR code, keep strong contrast, and make it large enough to scan from the distance at which it will actually be used. Test the final layout rather than relying on a universal size.
For a conversation in person, your Apple Wallet pass already carries the direct contact-download QR. For someone reading on the same phone, send your card link too: tapping a link is simpler than scanning the screen they are holding.
Keep the link stable and the details current
Meet Well uses your chosen card address for the digital card and its contact-download link. Saving updated contact details changes what a later visitor or scan receives without requiring a new printed code, as long as that address remains the same and the card remains active.
A QR pointing to the public card does not become a direct-download QR when you change the destination in the builder. That choice creates a different code. Download it again when you want a different destination. Existing contacts on someone else’s phone are not automatically updated.
Check the recipient’s experience
Try the code on the kinds of phones your audience uses. Some open a contact preview immediately; others first download a file ending in .vcf. Follow the device’s contact-import or save prompt. If you prefer a more guided introduction, choose the digital-card destination and let the person tap Save contact there.
Download the QR from your saved account before you print materials for your business, then confirm that a scan opens your own details.
